This is exactly the scenario that Hydroboost fixes. You do not have to worry about stopping again. You will not regret doing this believe me.

Yeah that is what we figured out. I like the way that it works. Just hopw we all have as good of luck with it as my buddy has. But he could fall in a pile of horse poop and come out smelling like a rose with his luck.

That is Paul Clarkes outfit. A finer gentlemen does not walk the face of this earth. You will get a great product, great customer support and a first class installation. Have fun with your setup when you get it.

Yea I know the type some days you just shake your head and some times you want to strangle them.

Thanks, TOFIC! Nice write-up. Soon I'll be also writing up a basic primer on Hydroboost brakes in general, describing what they are, how they work and what vehicles to get them from, which will serve as a companion piece to your article.

In addition to the big Mercs from the 70s, you can also get a hydro boost setup from a Lincoln Mark IV. They went from 72ish to 76ish. The Mark Vs might have them too, but I haven't confirmed.
I parted out a very rusty 74 Mark IV. It has the 460, AC, PS, P Disc B (front and rear) w/ the hyroboost. I really wanted to swap everything over to a 68 short bed I have, but I ran out of time.
I have a hydroboost setup on my '69 Toyota Land Cruiser. It still has drums all around and so I added an adjustable proportioning valve. They work very well. I am running 12.50x33 tires and can lock up on demand.
My booster has developed a leak so I need to go get a rebuilt one and swap it out. The Ford project is cutting into the Land Cruiser maintenance a bit. I am strongly considering it on the '71 F100 we are building but that's down the road a loonnng ways.

I have a 2002 F250 with hydroboost with 4 wheel disks. If I found a donor like mine and put the hydroboost and master cylinder on my 69 F100 I should be able to install rear disk brakes? I'am in the process of converting the old front drum and steering to a 1973 front disk and power steering set up.

Yes, as long as you use a master cylinder designed for 4-wheel-disc brakes, you're fine. However, with the braking power generated by a Hydroboost, I really don't think rear discs are necessary, but that's entirely your choice.

Yes you can, but you will have to balance the system with a prop valve. superduty hydroboost is really strong and will lockup the back discs on such a light vehicle as your truck.
Also finding a 9" rear axle with discs to donate to yours will be fun. Your truck should have the small bearing rear end and the only vehicles I know with that setup are old Thunderbirds and Lincolns. Again I have another article on this subject (rear discs) that I am willing to share if Keith wants it.
Keith is right, try Hydroboost with your disc/drum setup. I am sure you will find this to be more than adequate braking power.
