4 inch lift...

Post by bigman78 »

I am going to put the 4 in. skyjacker lift in my ford and was wondering if i would need a new driveline. I know that ill need new brake lines. Is there anything else besides those two things that may need to be replaced? I also thought about putting a 3 in. body lift with it. Will i have any problems with this? Ive got a 1967 4wd highboy. Thanks for any help.

I would stay away from body lifts. Do it all with the suspension. You will probably need new drivelines, though I am not positive.

Maybe, maybe not. Since it's a 250, you can lower the coupler and maybe get away with it.

Your drivelines will be fine with the 4in lift. there is more than enough in the slipjoints to compensate.

Usually its the 6" and bigger lifts that need driveshaft lengthening or T-case dropping.

Maybe some degree shims up front to help with the D-shaft angle, and a pitman/steering arm, or a steering block.

Most people don't like body lifts, but if you fab some brackets to keep the bumpers in line with the body, they look alright. Just make sure you get the bolts real tight so you don't rattle and squeak. Also, with a body lift, you may need to do some mods to the clutch linkage or shifter linkage. I've had body lifts in 3 different trucks, and am gonna add one to the Hi-Boy.

I say do both :D

And a little 94 F-150 Flareside, 7" higher and 35's...
