Is there a lift kit?

Post by cghstrojan08 »

Does anyone know if there is a body lift kit for these trucks? Mine is a 1969 f100 2wd long bed. I woould really like to find a body lift kit for it since I am getting ready to replace the cab mounts. Thanks!

There is 1, 2 and 3in body lifts on ebay right now. I have a 3in kit laying around if your interested. Only prob with the body lift on the 2wd fords is the steering shaft coming out of the truck to the box gets a pretty messed up angle. I have a buddy that did a body lift but hasn't finished it so can't give you the bottom line.

Right....a body lift kit for a 4WD is an easy install, but not so with a 2WD. As 460crew stated, the steering shaft plugs directly into the steering box, and since the steering column is attached to the cab, it's going to raise up with the cab and you'll no longer be able to attach the column.

If you're looking to lift yours, personally I think you'd be happier with a suspension lift kit. You can get a 3" suspension lift kit or a 5" suspension lift kit at autofab.com.

Body lifts cause all sorts of issues with shifters and wiring and junk too. IMO, they suck. Suspension is the way to go.

other than having to worry about the sterring column length problem. why couldn't a person just use two sets of rubber mounts stacked on top of each other and then use longer bolts to raise the body? the bed however would require something different or maybe just a set of rubber mounts back there too. steel would be best though for the bed lift.

All a body lift really is are just taller body mounts.
