BF Goodrich all terrains T/A's

Post by montana_hiboy »

I pick up a set of these on monday, i ordered them from a local dealer for what i think was a good price ($114 each for LT235/85/16 w/RWL) my truck is used mostly 90% highway, 10% off-road (hunting/firewood)...... so my question is what's your guy's experience with this tire? i'm not really too concerned with it's mud/dirt capabilities but more so with it's snow/ice capabilities.....i've heard it wears pretty well for an all-terrain tire as long as you rotate em and keep proper inflation. I'm already locked into buying em but would still like to hear any experience you guys have with them, thanks.

p.s. these are the new "KO" design (i believe it has something to do with the shoulder of the tire, i'm not really sure)

I run those on my DD and have for years.
Great driver tires, and they dont do to bad in the mud and snow too.
They dont dig like swampers or hawgs but they are ok off road. 8)

I love them. I have them on my Bronco. I would have put them on my bump if they weren't on backorder. I know a guy who got 70K out of a set.

I've had them on 3 different vehicles and wasn't impressed especially for the mileage they got. I ran 33's (285/70/17) on my F150 and they lasted around 30K miles, pretty sad for a $800 set of tires. In snow they were pretty good, in mud they are a joke. Also have them on a '93 F250 and an '89 ranger and they aren't doing well. I went with ProComp AT's that have a 50K mile warranty on the '05 F350 and plan on going with Bridgestone Dueler or Toyo Open country II's on my F150.

I ran the tires when BF was testing them before production and went 48,000 miles on a set of rears in a 33/16*15. BF Goodrich picked my Desert 68 SWB for testing in a real world. I raced across sharp rocks and sand at 140 and climbed hills farther than other vehicles even 4 wheel drives.

I loved those tires and they were so much quieter than the 32/16*15 they had replaced. Yes T/As get worse gas mileage they have a softer compound for rock crawling so they have more road friction.

I have ran the BFG All Terrains and the Mud Terrain and I loved them both  There is a better mud tire out there but when it comes to using them on and off road the BFG is a better combo tire IMO. Just my :2cents:

well i've had 'em mounted for 2 days now, there not as noisy as i thought they would be for an aggresive tread pattern, they certainly are a good looking tire, i just hope i can get at least 40,000 miles out of them, now i just gotta wait for the snow to fly and see how they handle

I've got a set on my 99 f150 that have gone 30,000 miles and still have 75% tread on them. I don't go off-road too much but have never had any problems provided I have that extra 500 lbs in the bed (it a 2wd).

I feel the same about BFG and Sony, I got tired of paying more for a product that isn't any better then the lower priced models. The probably are a good tire, just too expensive. I got 245/64-16 (IIRC) Bridgstones for my Jeep for $75 a tire. Just my :2cents:

I've had them on 2 different F250s my old '83, 33X12.5 16.5 and on my '96 265/75 16. They are noisy, I haven't gotten much more than 30K out of 'em on either truck. I rotate them, keep pressure up. I'm somewhat happy with them but keep buying them. They're good in the snow for the first 20K, and then seem to drop off pretty quickly. They load up with snow and mud. I'll be shopping around when they need to be replaced next time. Luckily that won't be for a while. Now that I have 2 trucks and spend way too much time at work I'll only be putting about 1500-2000 mi a year on them. They were a massive improvement over the OEM Firestones Steeltex AT I think. Those were junk! Couldn't keep the truck going straight in rain from day one. The BFG's are good, but maybe not as good as we all be lead to believe.

I have a set of 285 75 16 on 77 k20 burb work good in rain and snow, not impressed w/ their mud performance, not bad in loose sand either. I choose them be cause it's the only tire I could find w/ a 3 ply sidewall, gives a little less wallow to high speed on road driving.
But have just a good traction performance and same noise level w/ some Pep Boy futura Dakota rvts 33 12.50 16.5's ($ 95ish a copy)on a tow rig sat in the deep sand at dumont dunes for 3 days, and was able to pull out in 2 wheel high. Think the next set of tires I buy will be big O brand for free road hazard :)

I've had BFG 31X10.50X15 Mud-Terrain T/A's on my 76 Bronco and absolutely loved them on Pavement on going through a Rock Garden.
I've got BFG 33X10.50X15 All-Terrain T/A's on Jethro right now. I am also very pleased with these tires.
On my 03Expedition XLT FX4 I'm running BFG 285/60VR18 KDW's and can't say enough good things about them!

I Strongly believe That B.F. Goodrich makes the best tires, On or Off the road...

Hey any of you Brother's out there know what the B.F. stand for?

I agree 100%. I'm gonna put a set of G-Force T/A KDWs on my 05 Mustang GT when the crappy stock pirellis wear out. And Radial T/As when I get new wheels for my 65.
