Sway bar question

Post by AODf100 »

I was roaming around the local junkyard and I notice something. The Econoline had the same king pin style front I-beam as the 67-79 truck but they carried it through the early 90's. My question is, will the radius arms from this Econolines fit my 71 f100 ? I wonder this because its easier to find a Econoline with a sway bar than a older f100 with one. :?

Honestly I don't think they will go because the frames are diffrent. Who knows maybe someone here has the answer.

Well, I know the Econoline is a wide track vehicle, but I honestly don't know.
Did you want to order a new one?
I know Helwig makes them since I just ordered/installed a rear one.

your best bet for a front swaybar is a '78 or '79 F-350. At least that's the only ones I've ever spotted. And don't forget to get the radius arms too.

i'll be installing the rear swaybar from my 86 F150 in my 68 rear...

it bolts to the housing with ubolts and the endlinks go up to the frame

the truck originally had a 9 inch rearend but i turned it into a frankentruck using a 79 F350 D60 rearend with modified perches (aka plasmacutter work for the narrower springs)

i had been wondering what i could do to make a setup for the front, and i was actually checking out the econoline van swaybar (80's vans) where it might work for me with a bit of work with the ends...

but i was figuring on me welding something to the front of the Ibeams for the endlinks instead of trying to find the OE brackets...and installing them

sway bars

Post by tex1264 »

I was wondering about the van sway bar too! i also have a 86 f-150 with the swaybars on both ends. i was going to rob them for my 68 swb. i measured the front i-beams on a 79 van! i have to remember and measure my truck tomorrow. but i'm thinking of using the 86 setup too! Thanks Kevin
