New to the forum looks like great stuff. Question, i have a 68 ford f-100 w/dana 44 front w/3.54s and dana 60 w/3.54s.....front is bad....will the 3.54 gears go into a 76 ford dana 44 housing if i swap that in? Might be dumb question, but curious.[/b]

Hello and welcome to the site, Chewie.

Sorry I can't help with your question, just wanted to say welcome, you might want to stop in the Welcome Mat forum and introduce yourself (if you feel like it, of course).

Hello and welcome,
as far as the 44's. I believe that as long as both versions of the 44 are either high pinion or low pinion that they are interchangable.
I am pretty sure the 77 axle would be a high pinion but not sure about the old one????
Look at where the yoke is on both axles they should either both be above the centerline of the ring gear or below center on the ring..

Maybe someone else on here can verify wether or not your origional axle should be a high pinion

You need to get the gears from a low pinion housing if the housing you have now is a low pinion housing. The high pinion gears are reverse grinds.

I looked at both axles and both are high pinion.

Then they will swap. Next question is... can you set up gears?
