Clunk
Hey everyone this is something that is new to me and would love to know what has gone (or is currently going) wrong. When I put my car into any gear but Park, it makes a loud CLUNK sound. When the car is going down the road it operates like a dream. Any kind of input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

re: Clunk
Hopefully it's just a u-joint. Too much free play in the rear end will do that too.

re: Clunk
once in a while that will happen to me too, a worn pinion gear was suggested...but it has not been a big enough problem to fix.

re: Clunk
If your truck has a 2-piece driveshaft, you should also check out the splines where they connect in the middle...the slip joint. Those will wear out as well, which unfortunately means a new driveshaft assembly.

re: Clunk
It was just a loose U-Joint
which means my driveshaft assembly is good. The CLUNK is gone
