'68 grill

Post by ranger240 »

ok, I searched, but nothing was found.

I know that it is incredibly difficult to find a grill in really good shape, and I had one untill last week. some old guy (no offense old guys) pulled out in front of me, and consequently smashed my bumper, grill and driver's side headlight bezzel. I HAD a near perfect aluminum grill, only one ding in the center of it. now I need a new one. insurance is going to pay for it, so price is not really an issue at this time. does anyone know of a place that sells re pops, or oem nos grills and bezzels?

thanks for all of your help in advance.

Go to Car-Part.com and enter what you want. They will show salvage yards all over the country. I looked for a few years for a low priced 68 grill, finally had to settle for a 69. I found this site and there's alot of 68 grills out there. I have a guy bringing one from up north to trade for my 69 grill.

Did you try Dennis Carpenter or LMC. They should have it as a remake of the original. John

They only sell the '70-'72 with the plastic inserts. I've looked myself.

well, luckily, the insurance of the fella that pulled out in front of me is paying, so really I don't think price is going to matter much, unless they try to total it, then they'll be getting a big finger (sorry if that's a little to PG).

I'll go to carparts.com and see what they've got, thanks for that little tid bit, I haven't heard of that site.

Not sure how close 68 and 69 are but there's a real nice 69 Ranger grill on ebay that I wish I could afford right now. It's actually a good buy at 140 plus 70 shipping (I think) when compared to the lmc and npd prices.

The only difference between the '68 and '69 grilles is that the center bar on the '69 has a depression down the length of the bar, while the '68 does not.

I am guessing if you can find as good of an Aluminium grille as you had price will be an issue. IIRC they go for upwards of $300 for near mint ones on ebay and I bet the insurance won't like that at all.
