F100 Hood Rust

Post by jhcarper »

Hey Folks:

Finally finishing up cab and bed (minus fender) body repair on my 1970 F100 style side LWB and pulled the hood out of storage this past weekend to check it out.
Found that I have some rust through in the side structure under the bump stops. Don't see any replacement panels and not feeling too good about trying to fabricate this will all of the stepped bends. Looking for ideas on repair (not looking for show quality, just want it solid and durable and ok looking).

Including a few pics of

the hood issues.

Mine had rust along one side of mine. Most on the bottom, but a couple spots where it creeped up the side next to the fenders. Since they are relatively flat pieces it was very easy for me to just bend and fit new pieces to weld in once the bad sections were cut out. I had another good hood that o had thought about using instead but I didn’t like the way the front section was poorly aligned and pinch-welded together along that front seam, so it was easier to fix my original.

Great news if that becomes available.
