Hello everyone, I decided to start a thread about my 68 F100, This is my first truck, and I am restoring it to be my daily driver. The deadline to complete it is August 2021, hopefully it will be on the road by then. Here it is the day we got it home! Yeehaw!

I started this thread late so I will post the progress so far. I was told this was a running 390 but it turned out to be a clogged up 360.

Decided to build a 351w, and put in a toploader 4-speed.
Tried to see if the original seat would clean up, but it is very faded.

This is the grille that came with the truck. unfortunately it is a '71 and not the original '68.

Got the front clip off and engine removed.

Had to rebuild the lip on the door jam. As you can see I am an amateur welder!

The driver side was worse than the passenger floor so I am going to order a floor pan.

Got the dash torn apart, along with the heater.

Had to put a small patch on the firewall lip. Not pretty but it works!

This is how the truck sits now. Got the brake lines, and hoses off, fuel lines are out, and shocks removed. once the cab comes off, the frame is ready for paint.

Got the brakes torn apart. The previous owner did the brakes, but did not do the rear left brakes! Although the drum has some chips out of it, so my guess is he tried to get it off and chipped it, and could not get it off, so gave up!

So now I had to order parts to do the rear brakes that I was told were redone! but at least both fronts were done!

Got some work done on the drivers floor today! got the old floor cut out, and started fitting in the new one from DC. Now I just have to final fit it, and then weld it in.

Hey Fordkid68! Thanks for sharing in-progress photos and details on your restoration, looking good!

I'm eager to hear about your experience with the DC floor pan - let me know your impressions on the fit and quality, please. Will you install the whole pan or just enough to replace the rot? I'm probably going to need to do the same on my passenger side floor.

Thanks LeoZelig! I am only using enough floor pan to cover the rot, because then I do not have to recut any of the factory holes near the pedals, like clutch linkage, or e-brake holes.
The pan does not fit perfectly so it requires some trimming to make it fit. But overall it is not too bad, but unfortunately it is made in Taiwan, which I did not expect from DC. It does seem to be a decent quality though, and it will not be exact because it is made to fit dentsides also. So it has some extra beadrolls, that bumpsides do not have.

That is surprising, Fordkid68 - makes me wonder if I should just get the El Cheapo floor pans from Parts Geek, instead.

I don't mind the bead rolls being different - but that's good to know. That could be a factor for some people.

Can't wait to see your update on the floor repair, especially.

Got the pan welded in yesterday! It went in good, with no problems. I punched holes in it along the door sills to spot weld. and drilled a couple of holes to weld to the back of the cab mount like it was originally. And along the door sill edge I ran a solid bead to make it really strong.
The red spray on it is self etching weld- thru primer. I am using it to hopefully prevent surface rust from starting between the panels.

Here it is cleaned up and ready to be welded in.

Here is the floor with more primer on it. The edges are noticeable but I am going to put carpet in anyway.

I also removed the back window. The seals were pretty bad and were very ugly, so I am replacing them. The window came out very easy, I duct taped the window to the cab so it wouldn't fall out, then I just used a utility knife to cut the seal from the inside, and popped the the glass out. It was very easy and only took about 15 minutes.
