Brakes pulling!!!!!!
I have a 69 Ford with manual drums all the way around. When you hit the brakes it will pull from the left or right. It never pulls the same way twice it switches from side to side. What could be the problem? I should just upgrade to disc and be done with the problems.

Thanks I will look into it. I was thinking of just replacing everything but I really want discs on the front and didn't want to waste any money.

re: Brakes pulling!!!!!!
It sounds to me liek you jave a problem in the master cylinder.
It sounds like it's not applying pressure evenly.
Or you might have some crud in the distribution block.

re: Brakes pulling!!!!!!
Bardo i wouldn't say drum brake pull often but yes it can happen for a number of reasons. a dirty fluid system improperly adjusted brake pads worn drums or pads and bad or stuck wheel cylinders.

re: Brakes pulling!!!!!!
....but just because they're pulling doesn't always mean they're out of adjustment. As mentioned, leaky wheel cylinders can contaminate brake shoe linings and cause it to pull to one side.

re: Brakes pulling!!!!!!
The pulling is not confined to just one side though.

re: Brakes pulling!!!!!!
If your truck is pulling both right and left most of the time its not the brakes. Most of the time it your radius arm bushings or another suspension related part.
look at your radius arm bushings if they are cracked, oil covered, or missing
jack your truck by the frame and get a bar in by the I beams and see if you can get any movement front to back, if you have any change them.
also check all other suspension bushings, king pins, and steering links.
I would also check your wheel play grab your wheel top and bottom, and front to back, an pull and push you may be lucky and just have your wheel bearing out of adjustment.
If no suspension problems look at the brakes, rubber lines in good shape? oily/glazed/burnt shoes. burnt shoes are over heated, most will go powdery. also check your backing plates shoe slides for groves (the part were the shoes rest on the backing plates) if they are groved you might have hang ups in brake engagement. leaky wheel cylinders/badly adjusted don't normally cause your truck to pull left and right. most of the time it will be one or the other not both along with low/spongy brake pedal.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info guys I will look into the supsension parts and see if that is what is wrong with it. To my knowledge the truck has never had any suspension work done to it. It still has the original shocks on it. That might be the problem.
