rim selection

Post by shqb33 »

Hi all, I want to put a set of 17 or 18" cragers on my 69 f-100, do you guys know if crager makes a rim thats 5x5.5" If not whats the best way to change my lug pattern to a pattern that has more options for rim selection, or should I try to have a custom set made? :? Thanks in advance for any info.

Good website, but the wheels, like the TQ aluminums, just come in a 5 on 5 pattern and smaller, so I still got the same question???

Crager makes a lot of the steel wheels in 17-5x5.5 I put the Crager 441,s in 17x8 on mine. I have pics of them on my truck in my Gallery. They do not make the new all aluminum SS wheel in our bolt pattern or I would have them in 18,s

I am told that we can put a 9.5" wide wheel on the backs of our trucks. The only thing is we have to keep a 4" back space to do it. Now this is what I was told as I have not done it but I did go out to my 67 F100 and measure it and I think I was told right about that. Stockton wheel makes a good spacer/ adapter I am told. Do a google search and you will find many adapter companies listed. 5x5, 5x4.5 and 5x135 are all common 5 lug bolt patterns most wheel companies use. Just find the wheel you want in the back space you have to get and then match adapter to fit it. Good luck Charles

Thanks Charles, I am a little wery about putting adapters on because Ive heard they may not be to safe, I have a lot of power going to my rear wheels and Id hate to have a wheel snap off or something like that... Do they make heavy duty adapters that we can trust? Id rather do the job right the first time. Any experence with this would be greatly apprecieated, thanks

Here is Stockton's http://www.stocktonwheel.com/adapters_spacers.htm
Wheel Adapter.com http://www.wheeladapter.com/wheel_adapt ... pacers.asp
Skulte.com http://www.skulte.com/adapters.html
Truck adapter and wheel http://www.chromewheel.com/

Stocktons and truck adapter were recommended to me. Truck adapter makes heavy ones I know as you will once you see what they do. Weld wheels makes the all aluminum wheel Crager SS wheel I just found. I will be looking for a set on ebay. I just got a return email from a dealer telling me this. Here is a link to some that have the 5x135 bolt pattern Good luck, Charles http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... %3AIT&rd=1

I'm all about a set of 15X8 Black steel wheels with a small trim ring and baby moons. Those are just a true classic. Getting ready to sand blast a set and put them on hopefully in the next week or so.
