33" Tires on a F100 4x4?

Post by hutch1973 »

Thinking of getting new tires/rims for the truck. I'm going with the 8" rim and want to put a 33x1250.15 under it, but, initially, I don't want to lift it. I plan on putting a couple inch lift under it down the road, but this year the focus is interior/engine. Is anyone running a 33 w/o a lift? It would only be for this summer, probably lift it next year/winter.

When it's all said and done I want a truck that will juuussst squeeze into my garage but have a decent stance.

(Pic of my old truck, 92 Flare, with 33's and a 2.5" suspension. This is the look I like)

You might be crossing the line with 33". You need to think about tire rubbing in a turn. Or also if you articulate the truck the tire will probably rub.

With an 8" rim the tire will actually bow out in the center of the track. It will wear fast there also. I would consider 10" rims

Can you find a friend with 33" tires you could fit check on your rig?

I've been told a 10" rim would rub in the front of the F100. I might accidentally have a 33" tire out on my parts truck, but I'm not sure. I'd like to test fit before I go an order them. I'm leaning towards a Interrog TrXus Radial.

I'm not sure if I should worry much about the articulation and rubbing, because I'll be lucky to put a couple hundred miles on this summer. The most it is going to get used is to make a a run or two to Home Depot, which is about 3 miles across town. I have new tires I put on it when I bought that that don't even have 150 miles on them.

The AT or the MT truxxus. I like the At's, thinking about a set of 42's for my 77 project but I have to see how high it sits and what will fit. :D I'm stuck between those the Interco Irok's or a set of Ground Hawgs :hmm: this is the look I like... Image

lol I'm not saying I don't like that look, but I need it to fit in the garage. I live in town and the way my driveway/parking is situated I can't leave it sit outside. Plus if I need to work on it in December I don't want to be freezing my @#@$ off to do so.

well, not sure if this will help you but I have a 88 Ford Bronco that i ran 33x12.50x15 on a set of 15x8 rims without a lift and had no problems, other than turning real sharp, it would rub a little on the frame but other than that, it was all good.

I'm thinking they'll fit. My current tires are a 29" od, and if you look at my pcis, they look too small. It'll be tight but I'm tempted to just order them and find out the hard way. I went and checked my parts truck but it don't have 33's. Plus it's a mud pit out there (my 4wd works :) , first time I used it) and I don't want to mess with pulling one off anyway. If they don't fit then I guess I'll just be lifting it sooner instead of later.

The key to all of this is spacing out the truck purchases every few weeks so that chick I live with doesn't figure out how much $$$ is getting spent.

We don't have a normal relationship, we have seperate checking accounts. If I get home before she does and hide the UPS, I win.

On the flip side, I remodeled our bedroom last year and put in a walk in closet. As a condition, I said she needed to get rid of 10 pair of shoes, since she had 40 pair. She did that, I put the closet in with a ton of adjustable shelving. Less then six months later I noticed the shelves are all readjusted and she has a solid 50 pair of shoes.

Truck parts are waaay cooler then shoes.
