I'm usually an Edelbrock carb guy, but I recently bought a new Demon 1900 625 cfm carb to try on my 351C. It only cost $290 from Jegs, which is a bit cheaper than the last Edelbrock I bought. Out of the box, the primaries came metered very rich according to my AEM wideband. I bought the tuning kit and went two sizes larger on the metering rods and the A/F ratio is good now. I have to say, when those secondaries open, it accelerates noticeably harder than the Edelbrock 650 AVS or the Edelbrock 750 that I have experimented with in the past!
I am very impressed with it!
I just thought I'd let anyone know who may be carb shopping, the Demon 1900 is great! They also make a Demon 750 cfm.
Impressed with my new Demon carb!

Re: Impressed with my new Demon carb!
That's an awesome price as far as I'm concerned! I sold the last of my Holly's some 15 years ago swearing to never buy another one of them, (wait until you have one flood 5 gallons of fuel into your swamp buggy some 15 miles off of the nearest paved road-then tell me you'll keep running them)!
Does the demon still have a center hung float? Looks to be bullet proof.![Thumbs up ](./images/smilies/icon_thumright.gif)

Re: Impressed with my new Demon carb!
I've honestly never liked Holleys either. I liked my Q-jet that I used to have on my big block El Camino. Other than that, I've always liked Edelbrock on everything else I've had. This Demon has more in common with an Edelbrock AVS than any other carb. (Imagine taking the Edelbrock and re-imagining it on a clean sheet, and adding a large secondary like a Q-jet.)basketcase0302 wrote:Does the demon still have a center hung float? -The secondary upper air door is adjustable like an AVS.
-It uses 'metering rod in jet' primary metering like Edelbrocks.
-Metering rods can be changed quickly from the top like an Edelbrock.
-It has dual floats like an Edelbrock.
-Different than the Edelbrock is that if you have to change jets, you pull the carb, remove the screws from the bottom that hold the top cover on, then the top cover pulls off. So jet changes are indeed a little more involved than the Edelbrocks (having their screws on top). I didn't have to change jets though, only rods.
-The float body is like a big bathtub for the floats to sit in, so it is supposed to be less leak-prone than an Edelbrock.
Its other big departures from Edelbrock are the smaller primaries for crisper throttle response, a little difference in boosters, and the secondary "goggle valve" air door moves a bit more air than the regular secondary barrels on an Edelbrock do. With that big secondary activated, I can say my engine comes to life quicker and with definitely more seat-of-the-pants pull than it has before! It is worth a try for anyone wanting to experiment or who needs a new carb and wants to save a little money over an Edelbrock. In my reading before I bought it, I saw a mention of a carbed 6.0 LS on a dyno with the 625cfm Demon, and they said that they spun that engine to about 6,500 rpm and the A/F Ratio was still holding steady up there! They had thought that was going to lean out and that they would have to swap to a larger carb, but the small Demon was doing the job just fine!
I guess I finally found a Holley I like, and it is a clean-sheet version of an Edelbrock!

Re: Impressed with my new Demon carb!
I also wanted to share this chart I made for the 625 Demon. (I made them for my Edelbrocks also.) It's a listing of the jet and rod combinations from lean to rich, going by the clearance of the rod sitting in the jet. It was just a matter of doing all the math, subtracting all the rods' sizes from each jet size, then listing them in order. As you can see, out-of-the-box-stock is in the middle. Going up takes you leaner and going down takes you richer.
It comes in really handy when you're running an AEM wideband O2 gauge like I am. Say you see that you're running a little rich under full primary, so you look and see what the next combination leaner is, compared to what you are currently running. It works really well for me!![Thumbs up ](./images/smilies/icon_thumright.gif)
