Dashpot on 2100 Carb.
On a 1969 F250, 360 engine, I have seen some pictures on this forum of the same setup I have (manual choke, C6 Automatic, etc.) They have some sort of pot at the bottom of the throttle linkage. Mine is missing (They also directly tied the kickdown linkage to the throttle). Forgive me for asking, but it's been 30 some odd years since I have touched a carb. A couple of Google searches didn't give much info. What is it for, and do I need it? Seems to run fine in the limited amount I have moved the truck around. Have not been able to get her out for a good run since she isn't legal yet. Any input would be most appreciated.

Here's a couple of links to places I use for carb parts.
The part you refer to is called a dashpot or more accurately an anti-stall dashpot. It's purpose was to gradually allow the throttle to close rather than snapping shut. It's used only on automatic transmission applications to my knowledge.

Yep, it was needed due to the lean tune Ford introduced to help emissions more than anything else. The leaner you run, the harder it is to idle well.

Thanks for the input guys. I figured it was something like that, but was not sure. So far she seems to idle ok, we'll see when I get her on the road next week if it is something I need to pursue.
