Tailgate disassembly latch/internal parts

I have a 67 short bed that I am going to have the bed and tailgate dipped to strip all of the paint/rust and I want to disassemble the tailgate latch assembly/internal mechanicals and wanted to know how to do it correctly.

By the way stripping off spray in bed liner is a pain in the butt......

Take out the screws holding the latch handle and disconnect the rods and then take the screws out of the 2 latches and pull them out with the rods. That's it. Take pictures of how the rods go on the handle and latches to make assembly easier.
