Hello from Iowa

Post by Scally70 »

Hello everyone!

Im new to the f100 family but grew up in a Ford family. My dad bleeds blue and it was pumped through my veins at birth! Dad was always a drag racer- I grew up around the drag strip and his body shop. I began drag racing as soon as I got my drivers license. We decided to try dirt track racing in 1998. I drove IMCA type Modifieds for 7 years. Dad & I are going back to drag racing this year. I'll post pictures of our Ford history after I get situated here in this site.

I just purchased my first f100. 70, swb, 360, c6, Custom. Its been a Texas truck its entire life up until November last year. I searched awhile and finally spotted an impressive solid truck. My favorite Ford vehicle is the Maverick but I started liking trucks about a year ago while seeing my dad build his pro street 56 ford truck. I chose the 70 because that was the year I was born.

My current vision on this project is to create a unique street rod truck by keeping the body & paint as it is currently. Its Wimbleton White- fading nicely. I plan to make it look like a old Ford dealership parts delivery truck. Hand painting "Fitzpatrick Ford" on the side as though its aged w the current paint. Fitzpatrick was my moms maiden name. Im a graphic designer and a huge fan of old 60s/70s drag car lettering. I'll choose era correct font & Ford logo to fit the theme on the 70 f100. Im going for a drag racing look w the truck dropped just a few inches all the way around and fitting it w 15x10 rear OEM appearing steel wheels that i purchased from Wheels Vintiques. Ill paint them Wimbleton White also but keep the freshly painted look on them. Going with 15x4.5 on the front that will match the rears. Interior i want to make appear new. But keeping the aged look on the outside. Engine will get a boost of power and a cam. Nothing real radical. I want to be able to make a daily driver out of it.

Im fortunate to have access to a body shop and a back ground in racing. I have a general idea of what I want for the suspension but I will definitely read up on the posts here about other projects done on here. Im going to have questions so please be patient w my questions if someone has already asked the same question. Im looking forward to getting to know many of you and hope to blend in w this group someday. Im anxious to start this project next week.
