truck cover suggestions?
My wife and I will be moving within the next month, and our new place has a single car garage with a two-car carport on the front side. I thought my 67 LWB would fit in the garage, but it turns out it is 8 inches too long! The carport is good and sturdy, so I have no problem parking it under there. However, on some of those unpredictable heavy Texas weather days, I want to be able to put a truck cover on to prevent any further weathering/aging on the truck than necessary. LMC Truck has a few options, but does anyone have any other good suggestions?

Re: truck cover suggestions?
When I was looking for a truck cover for my crew cab, I was extremely surprised to find this company: http://www.buyautocovers.com/truck-covers/
Not only was the cover extremely cheaper than I was expecting, it has a 10 year warranty. I had paid over $300 for my cover for my 67 Firebird and over $300 for the cover on my 67 Fairlane from California Car Cover and those only have a 4 year warranty. These guys had 10 year warranty and I got the cover for under $200 total. And that is a HUGE cover for a 69 Crew Cab Long bed. Its good quality and the fit is good too. Comes with a storage bag and a locking cable as well.

Re: truck cover suggestions?
Thanks, Calfdemon! Seeing that it a less expensive option, would you say that it holds up to its claim of weather protection? Does it seem to protect just as well as your other $300+ covers?

Re: truck cover suggestions?
I'll be watching this one! They make big claims for the price!
It appears as though they charge the same amount for each cover... same price for a reg cab short bed as crew cab longbed... Interesting.
I am assuming they arent "custom fit" for each model of truck? (as in using the same cover for ford/chevy/dodge)
I wonder how well the cover they sell for my truck would fit.

Re: truck cover suggestions?
My crew only wore the cover for a week before I sent it back to the shop to get more paint work done. In that week, it did not rain, so I cannot speak to how waterproof it is. But I will say that it appears to be the same material as the cover I currently have on my 67 Fairlane and the 67 Fairlane cover holds up pretty well.
As for the fit on the crew cab, it actually fit it pretty well. Obviously, as with all car covers, you are going to want to tie it snug underneath the truck, but the fit was pretty good. As for dust and everything else, it kept it out and the truck stayed very clean. The inside of the cover is very soft and there were no scratches on the truck (and it was windy).
I have not completely read up on the details of the 10 year warranty, but most cover warranties are replacement warranties. So even if the cover begins to deteriorate (as they do in the hot California sun), it should be returnable for a new one. I know that California Car Cover's warranty is full replacement and all you need to do is cut off the UPC code and mail it back to them anytime in the 4 year period, and they will send you a brand new one, no questions asked. I am not sure if this companies warranty is as good, but even if it only lasts me 2 years and I don't get another one, it was worth the $195 I paid shipped.
There are a ton of customer reviews on the site though, and they are pretty favorable. The price and those reviews are what I based my decision on. Once I got it, I was happy with it.

Re: truck cover suggestions?
Just to follow up, I looked at their warranty information. They only honor the warranty after inspections of the cover and there are things which will effect whether or not they honor it. So that being said, more than likely, they will find a way NOT to replace it. Still, for the price, I think it will last long enough for me. As I said before, with California Car Cover, you pay more and their warranty is only 4 years, but at any time (and multiple times if needed) during that 4 year period, you just cut off the UPC code and mail it to them and they send you a brand new cover, no questions asked. But again, I paid close to $400 for those covers.
Here is the warranty from this company (to save you the hassle of looking it up):
Warranty
The warranty on Superior Guard™ 5L Truck Covers is 10 years from the original product purchase date.
The craftsmanship of your product is guaranteed to be free of defects. The manufacturer warrants to the purchaser that they will correct any defects in material or workmanship by either repair or replacement free of charge within 3 years of the original purchase date. Select Covers is pleased to extend this warranty period by an additional 7 years providing you with an incredible 10 year warranty.
The warranty does not cover normal wear, weather soiling, or stains from dirt or pollutants. The cover must be properly utilized and maintained from the time of purchase.
•Do not cover a wet vehicle.
•Do not cover a hot tailpipe.
•Do not cover a vehicle with the convertible top down.
•Do not cover a vehicle with the windows down, sunroof open, or t-tops off.
•Do not use cover while towing vehicle on an unenclosed trailer.
To initiate a claim for a product still covered under the manufacturer's or Select Covers extended warranty, please carefully review our warranty policy and then complete the form located on our warranty claim page. After your claim is submitted, a customer support specialist will review your request and respond with instructions for returning the defective cover to us for repair or replacement, pending an inspection.
We are not liable for repainted surfaces or lacquer paint. Repainted surfaces should not be immediately covered. It is best to check with your painter or body shop for the recommended "cure" time. Use of any cover before the cure time has been reached may cause damage which is not due to the cover, but instead, due to the new paint.
The manufacturer will cover the cost of shipping the repaired cover or replacement cover back to you.
