hood latch holes dentside

Post by fordman »

i put a dentside core support on my 67. the hood latch holes are different. i knew that. i have to drill one hole to let a bolt go throught the support. but i ialso have to be able to get a j clip to the hole so the bolt will be able to have somethign to thread into. how do i cut a square hole in the support so as to slip in a j clip.

Depends on the size of the square needed. If a drill bit will meet the size of the square, then drill the hole. With a file square it up. Not hard.
Buy a hobby file set if you don't have one these, files are small but do the trick.

You also could weld a nut in the hole . :2cents:

You could also drill a large enough hole in it to fit the clip in. But I prefer to weld the nut on as I did many times.

my thoughts were also two drill two hole large enogh to slip the clip into. and then a main hole for the bolt to go through. then file the drilled holes square. i guess thats what ill be doing next time i work onthe truck.

I don't know where to buy them, but there is actually a company that makes a drill bit that cuts a square hole. If you do a search in Google videos or utube and you will find it. Not sure on the price or the practicality of buying it for one hole, but it would be cool to have.
