Radiator Core Support Question
I'm restoring a 72 F250 with 390 engine. Need rust free core support. Does anyone know the difference between "super cooling" and non-super cooling core supports? Is it the radiator opening size? When searching for this part I find the distinction but I do not know if mine is super cooling or not. Looking for a rust-free one if anyone has one or knows of a source. Need rust free RH (passenger) door as well. Prefer no west coast mirror holes. Thanks

Re: Radiator Core Support Question
Yes u are right eking, the radiator opening is wider. I'm not sure but I think the super cool types are found on camper specials. And other high end packages. There are more standard core supports then there are super cool I found. FYI I bought a rust free core support. And once I sanded it down I found that.. It wasn't rust free. Good luck

Re: Radiator Core Support Question
I am fairly sure that the super cool support uses a pair of brackets to mount the radiator to the support whereas the standard types mount flush to the support. There is a difference in the openings as well. At least that is how mine is set up.

Re: Radiator Core Support Question
I think the smaller opening core supports were for 6 cylinders standard witout AC.

Re: Radiator Core Support Question
The 73 to 79s fit as well. didn't know if you knew that or not. Not sure about the super cooling issue. Hope that helps.

Re: Radiator Core Support Question
I swapped in a core support from a '78 f-350 into my '72 F-350.
You will need to punch a few holes for the hood latch stuff.
There is a really good tech/swap article here on doing the swap. http://www.fordification.com/tech/radsupport.htm
If your radiator bolts directly to the core support. Then its not a super cool core support. If it has brackets that the radiator mount to, then it is.
As far as i know, v-8's have one size opening, I-6 have different size opening. I don't believe there is a difference in the opening size between super cool and non-super cool core supports.
If i remember correctly, all the f-350's ('68-'79) had the supper cool style core support. I could be wrong.
4wd core supports might be different??? not sure.
FYI: my radiator is not a super cool style. Still mounts up just fine.
