the rubberized undercoating doesn't hold up to wear at all, its only meant for areas that don't see traffic.

bedliner works good. you can get the stuff that goes on with a roller pretty cheap these days and its easier to control than spray.

ditching the sound deadner under the carpet is pretty rough, however, i have nothing in my truck right now (bare metal) and i'm pretty sure i'm going to the rubber floor as soon as i can afford it. bare metal was cool 5 years ago, getting too loud in my old age (27 ha!)

Sound deadener of some kind makes a huge difference. Bedliner will add weight and help damp some sound, but isn't the best way to deaden. They make spray or roll on deadener that you could add underneath the truck that would help too. Beddliner is good for rust prevention and ease of cleaning though. Rubber mats trap moisture and debris and promote rust and only the surface of them is easy to clean. It's all about what you want, but undercoating isn't meant for high traffic as mentioned and doesn't hold up well. Sometimes it stays gooey too.

Here's an interesting option. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... p?p=228215 (bottom of the page) The original LizardSkin http://www.lizardskin.com/ looks like that too.
