Kingpin bushings-where?

Sweet jesus, I just got my first kingpin out by hand. Shop ain't got nothing on me! Anyways, my question is that I can't seem to find a retailer that sells the kingpin bushings. Where can I get these from or is it gonna hurt that much to reuse the old ones? Yell at me if u wanna, this is my first time ever messing with kingpins and what not. Taking the drums off of my '67 and puttin the '77 disc brakes on em. Thanks for the help guys!

buy new ones... try LMC truck parts. here is the link http://www.lmctruck.com/ call them up and tell them what you need. did you use heat to get the kingpin out?

I'm not sure you can buy just the bushings themselves from the local parts store, but the $50 kit will come with everything you need.

When you go to reinstall the bushings and king pins, they need to be reamed for a proper fit, and that's a job for a shop to do, due to the special equipment and techniques required.
As far as the axle pivot bushings, you are on the right track. Drill out the rubber and remove the old bushings leaving the outer shells in place. Then have the shop press the new bushings into the I-beams while you have them in there to have the king pins reinstalled.

Good work, kingpins are fun. They make nylon bushings sets too.
Not as heavy duty, but I got them in my 250. Get some "moly" grease
to lube everything up with when you put it together. You might need a
couple beers before your done.

If you have a Napa close by, they can get them easily. The one I used last time I did kingpins actually had a machine shop in the back and they did alot of stuff in-house, and were able to do mine easily. cost me around $75.00 for parts/labor total to get it done for me (I had driven out the old pins)

You'll need to get the king pin set, which comes with new bronze bushings (JMO, but do NOT buy the kit with plastic bushings. Bronze will last forever if they are greased once a year, more often if they get wet/muddy alot) but they need to be fitted to the kingpins, which means a reamer needs to be run through them AFTER they are installed (the bushings).

I *THINK* that Autozone carries them as well, but not positive. Worth a shot if you have one in your neck of the woods.

a brass punch and a bfh. don't use steel punches in case you miss and mash something you don't want mashed.

I agree the bronze ones are the way to go, but where I live, when you say kingpin, well they look at you puzzled. If you can find a shop with
a Sunnen hone for con rods, they can do king pins on it. I've done it
before myself. Just make sure you leave room for the grease to get in.

the shop i work in has one, we do alot of them both carry-in and kingpins we do.

And another note to add; ask for one of your kingpins back. I've got one out of a bigger truck (not sure what it came from exactly, but it's the same diameter as my Ford) and you can use it the next time to drive your king pins out.
