Newbie - 72 shortie in for a new life
Hi folks,
Dee here. Long time FORD guy, who has been luckily pointed here to connect as a owner of a 1972 F100 short bed that has seen better, and worse, days.
Red XA Bat on this and many other forums, due to one of my rides.... a 1973 XA Ford Falcon from Australia, modified to replicate one of the villainous cars from Mad Max 2 (The Roadwarrior in the USA).
I have had a few of these great trucks, fixed them and passed them on over the years. Last one (a 69 standard box with a 390FE) got traded last season for the above mentioned 72 that my wife and I are restoring and modifying.
Here it is as it arrived
A lot rougher than it looked, saved from the scrapper literally, and though it might have been a poor trade for such a hard luck case it was EAXACTLY what we needed. Hopefully the purists can forgive what we are in the process of doing. Partly because its getting a ground up restoration in the process, but also because just about all the areas to be modified have major damage (badly cut sunroof hole for example).
This is where it is headed in its new life:
Thanks for having such a great forum here, we look forward to contributing and sharing as much as learning.
Keep the Shiny side up-

And I cannot wait to see your recreation of the Mad Max truck!! The only hard part to see get chopped in that creation is the short bed box. The cabs are all over the place and if someone already hacked in a sunroof, then go for it. But the short bed is a hard find... Still, recreating the truck is a cool undertaking and something I would love to watch progress!! You did an excellent job recreating the Falcon from the movie.

from California! I say, cut it up, modify it! The trucks are not that rare and hard to get compared to some vehicles. I'm looking forward to seeing how your project comes along.

Re: Newbie - 72 shortie in for a new life
Awesome! Was wondering when someone would build a replica of one of them, when I went to the mad max museum in Silverton a couple years ago, they said the smashed up one was still around in someones shed so hopefully one day it'll resurface.
