Newbie

Post by Jenna »

30 YOA female here. So glad that I found this site. I just inherited a 1967 Ford F100. Boy do I not have a clue about what I'm doing. Gonna get a manual and hope that helps, along with this site. I did install a new starter and put in a battery.... Started right up. Neeed to get tires, then bleed the brakes, and clean out the gas tank. Found this website looking for how to bleed the brakes. Wish me luck!!! I will be back, bc I am not a gal that has ever worked on cars except for to change my own oil. :woohoo:  :woohoo:

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! My dad was always a ford guy, man I wish I would have paid more attention when he was restoring his old cars. LIttle did I know that I would end up with a 2005 Ford Focus, a 67 F100, and then I inherited his old 67 Keaton kit boat that has a ford engine.

sounds like you've learned enough already replacing a starter, there are a lot of people who would take it in to the shop for that. your brakes might not need bled, just adjusted. they don't auto adjust... i'm getting ready to tackle the same thing. feels like they aren't bled, in fact the guy i bought the truck from told me they needed bled, but they just need adjustment.

Glad to see a young lady who wants to get her hands dirty! My dad owned his own body shop and hired and taught a few women-one in her 50's. I asked him about it once and he said that the ladies he trained we the best learners because they were more willing to listen and weren't afraid to ask questions. Good luck with your truck!
