1970 f250 highboy short bed swap.
Hi I am new to this forum and I don't really know if this is the correct place to post this, but I have a 1970 f250 highboy that I want to make into a short bed. I just wanted to know everything that I am going to need to get in order to do this. Thank you.

Well for starters you'll need a tape measure , sawzall and a welder.Ahelz33 wrote: I just wanted to know everything that I am going to need to get in order to do this

you need to cut 16" from the middle and 4" from the end of your frame.
Some people think you need to "Z" cut the frame for strength .
But I believe for standard duty, a straight cut and a steel plate lapped over the weld is strong enough.
I've done two this way with no problems.
You'll need to have a shorter drive shaft, and I've never done a highboy so I don't know what you might run into with the transfer case mounting and box hole location.
I'm sure some others will chime in ,but remember to measure twice and cut once.

Now I've read(could have been wrong) that you can take an early 80's F150 short bed and it will fit on your long bed without cutting the frame apart. I'm not sure how its possible but it's something to look into before you start cutting your frame apart
