inner rocker panel lmc pics included

Post by 69f-100 »

hey guys just got my new lmc magazine, and just wanted to let you know that they are now reproducing the left and right inner rocker panels. It's on page 24 of the new magazine. They have not updated thier website yet, but the magazine shows it's a new item. :D

Now, if they'll only start reproducing the inner cab corners...

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

about ten years ago I met a guy from MI who before retiring worked for Fords tractor division..
Come to find out he had become friends with DC and helped get a hold of some original die sets from Ford..
Makes me wonder if the inner car corners were part of that... Or if those dies even still exist somewhere...
I'm sure if the dies were out there someone would be producing... But to make a die set...big $$$$$ and no one wants to flip that bill...

Has anyone order this inner rocker panel yet? I am trying to determine if includes the curve part of the door below the hinge area

It does not include the curve part. I will try and get a couple of pics of it.

Here is some pictures of LMC's "inner rocker panel", it is actually made in the USA. I thought by the picture in there catalog that it was going to go up the curve up the door jam a little where they rot out where the door seal fits. That is not the case, i'm am actually a little unsure how it is supposed to fit. It welds against the floor and seat panel from the bottom side, I'm guessing. Here are some pictures for you to take a look at. This is the driver side panel.

I purchased the left side "inner rocker panel" for my 68 F100 from LMC last year. When I opened the box and took it out it didn't look right. I placed the one that I removed over it to see if it was correct and would work. Well guess what, It wasn't even close.   It would have taken a lot of work to make it come close to working and it was made out of a liter gauge. So I returned it. I made a pattern from the dimensions taken from the one I removed and with a little work here and there on the pattern it work outed and fit correctly and I used 18 gauge. The LMC panel had bends where they didn't need them and none where they needed them. The last couple of panels that I purchased from LMC wasn't correct and was made out of a liter gauge of material and I returned them and shopped elswhere. I just saying be careful and check and recheck.
