drum to disc switch

Post by old timer »

I took parts off '77 a couple years ago and now I forgot!
Where does the proportioning valve sit? On the frame rail behind steering box? How can I test it to see if it's stuck?
Got a picture?
Thanks

the one from my 78 sits on the crossmember just in front of the steering box. i have seen some mounted to the gear itself right on to to the two screws in the bracket. the 67-72 blocks are mounted to the frame rail under the cab on the drivers side.

'73-'77 sit on top of the steering box, '78-'79 are on the left rear of the front crossmember. Here's the '74 prop valve on my '67 project:

Keith; that's it! and picture really shows it!
thanks much. I use mine to bracket drag race and been thinking old drums aren't stopping it good enough. It stops okay, but been worrying about panic stop. Putting everything in new not rebuilt.
Napa says lifetime replacement; they don't know I have had this 15 years already.
