Hello - 72 F100 in Austin
Hello all,
I've been haunting this site for several weeks now and figure it's about time I introduced myself.
I'm an aircooled guy from way back - grew up with them - but found myself borrowing my Dad's van far too often. I shopped for an old truck for several months before finally settling on a 72 F100 at a reasonably decent price. It's fair to say I wouldn't have considered an old Ford except for the existence of this site and the helpful, friendly nature of it's moderators and posters. Having a ready resource of information is invaluable when trying to keep an antique on the road, so thanks!
In any case, It's a 72 F100 fleetside longbed with a rebuilt 302 someone converted from 3-speed column shift to 4-speed floor shift, and pretty much a basket case (see the pic; it looks pretty good in the rain). I don't think it's been driven much in the last several years, but it's my daily driver now (I work three miles from the house). My plan is to tackle a major project once a month or so and otherwise address problems as they present themselves, so I'm sure I'll be here quite often.
Thanks
Matt
