New Member from Arizona
Hi, I'm Kevin from Peoria, AZ. I am working on a 71 F100 Sport Custom Explorer Special in Lime Gold Metallic. It's about 3/4 finished. Recently painted. There are some pictures online at http://profile.imageshack.us/user/kinderlied/ and I will add more. I drive the truck almost daily. A little bit of history behind the truck. This is a replica of the truck my dad bought in Crete, Nebraska in 71. I was 8 and I went with him to drive it off the lot. I got my license at 16 in it. I partyed in it, crusied in it, lived all of high school in it in Lincoln. I had some of the best times in those days driving that truck. The truck eventually rusted on the passenger floor and the transmission went out and had to be sold in 1985, but I always thought about that truck. Three years ago I decided to put together a replica. It took a while to find all the parts for an Explorer Special, but I found everything but the correct bed rails. Impossible to find. Almost. I found the mag style wheel covers, swing loc mirrors, am radio that works, front bumper guards, bed rails off a mid 70's F100? and a few other things. It has a 390, c6 trans and a 3:50 trac loc rearend. Looking forward to sharing pictures with everyone.

I reread my post and it sound like I lived in the truck in high school. No, I had a home but I probably spent more time in the truck that at home.

When my ex wife was really mad at me (often) I'd sleep in my truck! It was better than the alternatives of sleeping anywhere near her... Great Memories!limegold71 wrote:I reread my post and it sound like I lived in the truck in high school. No, I had a home but I probably spent more time in the truck that at home.

Thanks everyone for the great welcome. Even though it's going to be 108 today I believe I will drive the truck and enjoy the ride!

Wow, what a sweet looking truck. You've done a tremendous job of restoring it. It seems like many of us have some sentimental attachment and memory linked to our trucks. I also have very fond memories of my dad's F250's which is one of the reasons why I own my 72 F250. Welcome from Colorado and looking forward to seeing more pics!
