Dream Beams

Post by BobbyFord »

I've been tinkering with the idea of Dream Beams for my short bed. The only thing that I did not like about them was the finish (kind of a hammer gray color).
FYI: I contacted DJM and one of the techs told me he could send me a bare, unfinished set. He didn't say if the price would be less without the powdercoat but at least I won't have to sandblast off that ugly gray finish.
It didn't make sense to me to put something on the front end that look like it belonged there.

Hey Bobby,
I thought the same thing when I installed Dream Beams on my 67.
But they are actually a dark grey finish and didn't stick out too bad.
Actually with a little road grime they have on them now they're actually blending in nicely.
I figure if I ever tear this thing down and do it right I'll probably strip them an powder coat them back grey but not the hammered finish.
I think you'll like the stance so much you'll forget about the finish.
Just me though,Calvin

How much did you pay? Im thinking of going with dreams, the cut springs from my old ford, and a sectioned crossmember and relocated bumpstops.

I paid $515 plus shipping. The kit comes with urethane pivot bushings, tie rod relocators, 242 Loctite and a special wrench clearanced to tighten the tie rod locator bolts.

Cool Bobby,
The special wrench is something new as I didn't get one with mine.
It's nice to know you can get the parts separate because one day I want to strip mine and recoat them.
If you get a chance and it's not too much trouble could you post a picture of the special wrench?
TIA,Calvin

Thanks Bobby,
I can see where that would help.
Should work better than a hammer and a punch on the castle nut grooves that I had to use to get the last little bit.

Here's my Dream Beams, fresh from the powdercoater, they're still a little warm:

In my opinion, way better looking than the DJM Silvervein powdercoat

Im doing this as well. This weekend...hopefully. Dream beams and front disk conversion. I bought mine from summit as well. I'm ashamed to say I paid more than everyone else in this posting and I received the wrench and the tie rod relocators. No king pins-which are expensive. Either way I have a set now. Hoping to replace the front coil springs with bags and notch the frame so I can get the beams to come up a bit more.

Just to show what a "Stand Up" company DJM really is,I called to inquire about the special wrench and Catherine sent me one for free!.I even told her that they were purchased two years ago.She picked up the shipping also.
