Todd,
I couldn't remember what year your truck was, but here's the 70'-72' schematic:

If Fordman doesn't have them, check with Robroy. If it's the same as the fender retaining clips, he can give you a part number.
Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something.--Plato
Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???
That's not an oil leak That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

Re: ford part number shroud u nut?
Good day Todd!
Sorry if I've missed this point in your thread, yet do you already have an old sample U-Nut to photograph and/or measure?
I've found sources for the two U-Nut sizes I've encountered so far on #50; they're virtually the same, yet one has a deeper "U" shape than the other. They're both made for 5/16-18 bolts.
Here's a tread covering a source for 379831-S2, which are attached to the inner fenders along the top. These are the deep ones.
Source for the captive nuts on the inner fenders (McMaster).
The shallow ones can be replaced with Auveco 10830's, which are available under McMaster-Carr part 94850A155; as you know, the McMaster Web site will give you a detailed drawing of these.
Todd, do you think either of these U-nuts would work for you? Or perhaps the U-nut you're looking for is of a different style?
Have a fantastic evening Todd!
Robroy
