IRS options

Post by fuzzier1 »

I have read CarCrafters write up on his F100 Diesel, CV, Mark VIII build up here and unfortunately at the Darkside. While I am planning basically the same build, less the diesel (love the idea but not for now), I am looking at a slight variation of his build. Does anyone here have an Expedition or one of the other Ford/Mercury SUVs that have IRS on them? I am needing to find out what the hub-to-hub measurement is on them. While the Mark VIII IRS looks and works good it sounds like, I would just like to weigh all options. Also with the same IRS, what is the wheel bolt pattern?

Thanks

Ok the best I can figure is that a later model Explorer has a track width of 61.2 inches if I remember and our trucks have a 60.4 inches so it looks like an Explorer is the way to go. They also have a 5 on 4.5 inch bolt pattern like the CV IFS has. I understand the Explorer IRS is a bolt in also but have not verified. Does ANYONE have a later model Explorer they can verify any of this and preferably what is the hub-to-hub measurement?

Thanks
