Power Steering Unit

Post by Jimbo »

I have a 69 f 100 with a 302 engine everything is manual. Can I take the power steering unit off of a 70 F-250 Ranger and use it on the 302? If not what all do I need to get to make it work. Also can I use the steering colum as well? Thanks for any info that you can pass along. The engine in the F-250 is a 360 with FE heads. I am trying to sell the truck as a whole but no one is interested so I am going to part it out. Thanks again

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but PS columns are different than no PS columns so if you did you'd have to take the whole column. You'll probably have to make some changes to the steering gearbox as well, I believe there are a few differences.

Like I said, someone will correct me if I'm wrong- I'm not a steering column expert.

hth,

EDIT: I am 99% sure that it matters that the donor column has to be manual as well, if I remember correctly.

what engine and trans does the 70 have in it? it its th same engine it will all work. if not then you will need the 302 power steering pump bracket.

as far as the column. use the 70 column. but in order to use your 69 steering wheel you will have to grind down the steering shaft on top so the horn ring will fit on the steering wheel. and you will have to change the wirign plug on the tss wiring.
