Steering coulumn swap

Post by flyboy2610 »

When I got an add-on AC set up from 4x4x4crewcab, he threw in a steering column for an FMX equipped truck. (Thanks again, Mark!) My plan was to use it with a C6. It came from a manual steering truck and I have power steering. As a result the column is 2-1/4" too long. My plan is to section out that amount in the area shown, and use the steering shaft from my original column. Do you think that will work? Will that put the shift lever too close to the firewall at the bottom and make it bind?
Or should I just get a different column?
Input is appreciated.
Thanks.

In the other pics you can see the difference in length of the steering shafts.
The one Mark gave me has a real bad groove worn in the bottom.

Seems to me like alot less work to find the right column. Would suck to do the mods and it not work right for whatever reason. All that time for nothing.
