Position of radius arms on I-beams

Post by lsevenpj »

Hi. I'm in the process of disassembling the brakes, spindles, etc. from my 68 2 wheel drive. My question is: When I remove the radius arms from the I-beam,what determines the correct position when they are reinstalled?(at the beam) Is there a detent or something they fit in for correct alignment? Or are they adjusted when a front end alignment is done?

You mean the angle? It'll only install one way....one end gets bolted to the I-beam, the other end to the rear mount. Tighten up the rear mount and then get the front end aligned.

Thanks for your reply. Was'nt sure if there was some fixed position where arm attached to the i-beam. Next question: Is adjusting (or checking) the angle of the radius arm/I-beam connection part of a "normal" alignment procedure?

i dont think so. the botl holds it pretty much in one place. dont tighten the bolt until the rear is in place and tight though.

That angle is constant and solid...it doesn't move. (Well, it's not supposed to, anyway!) ;)
