I am removing my in-cab tank and leaving the factory aux tank in place. I want to install a tank behind the axle, but I also need a tow hitch. I have also cut the fill pipe for the aux tank and rotated it 180* to put the filler inside the bed.So what ever tank I get I want to do the same to and put the fill on the drivers side just like the aux filler. I want to have the cover shield in the bed also just like the aux filler shield. Does any of this make sense? Thanks

Re: aft axle fuel tank and tow hitch?
So you're asking if an aft-axle tank will clear your tow hitch? Well, the depends entirely on what hitch you get, and how low the tank you add hangs down. There's no way of us telling you that something you have to construct will work with something else you want to add but don't have yet to give any measurements.
What tank were you planning on using for the aft-axle setup? If you're thinking the Mustang tank, I doubt it'll work, since it hangs below the frame, and IIRC the aftermarket tow hitches are mounted to the bottom of the frame. Of course, you could always modify the hitch to clear the tank after the tank is installed.
You totally lost me on the filler neck and cover idea.

Re: aft axle fuel tank and tow hitch?
how are you going to use the shield and have the filler enck on the inside also. is the neck going to be sticking out of the shield?

Re: aft axle fuel tank and tow hitch?
Sorry, yes I am cutting a hole in the shield and putting the filler through it,just like on the outside of the bed, just turned a 180*. I want to shave the factory holes. I may pass on the rear tank for now. Thanks, I will post ppics tomorrow.
