Camper Special AUX Tank Removal
I'm working on cutting the bedsides off of my 72 CS and I was wondering how do I remove the aux tank. I took the 2 straps off and the skid plate and it didn't seem to want to go anywhere. Is the something I'm missing?? because using oxy-fuel near that old tank just makes me nervous even though it sat for years witout a cap on it. But any help would be very nice!!

Hey FordTruck
Check the fuel filler neck... on a '71 it runs between the bed and the frame, with that in place, it will hardly budge. Other than that, just keep chasin' bolts. There is a support the goes down the center... If I remember right, the straps hook to that.
Does your truck have the passenger side aux tank ???
I am wondering if the driver side tank could be flipped some how and used on the p. side.

Re: Camper Special AUX Tank Removal
I'm not I'm torching off the bed sides to make a flatbed and I don't want to be cutting above that tank and I wanted to clean it out. My plan after I get the flatbed made is to do away with the in cab tank and use the aux tank as the olny gas tank.fordman wrote:2 straps 1 fuel line 1 filler neck 1 gauge wire and 1 ground wire. why dont you just unbolt that stuff. dont torch up stuff soembody can use.
