Chrome Air Cleaner and Valve Covers
Hey, Im wanting to get a chrome air cleaner and valve covers for a 360V8. Where do I hook up the pcv if I get a chrome air cleaner? I'm looking at getting the 14" air cleaner on lmc. What kind of chrome air cleaners and aftermarket valve covers are you guys running? Post up pics if you have them. Thanks, Scott

Re: Chrome Air Cleaner and Valve Covers
yes it's really a bump...72 f100..302cu..Its just an air cleaner. I have the single version on my z28....an edelbrock carb and performer/rpm manifold/heads. Headman headder, isky cam, mallory ign. system. All balanced. I don't remember all the specs on everything but it puts out 300hp at the wheels. I practally never drive it. Just got done a few weeks ago with the inside..new carpet, seat, stereo etc. Here is a picture of it...pay no attention to those ugly wheels..they were the shizel in 1985 when I got the truck. I have a set of 20's on order for it. An I don't use a pcv valve just edelbrock breathers in each valve cover.

Ugly??? those look good. 20'' will be ugly.jcolville wrote:...pay no attention to those ugly wheels..they were the shizel in 1985 when I got the truck. I have a set of 20's on order for it.
These trucks are old and need wheels that look somewhat period correct. 16" would be ok though. To each his own.

It doesn't matter because the PCV valve connects to the carb base not the air cleaner.fordboy69 wrote:Hey, Im wanting to get a chrome air cleaner and valve covers for a 360V8. Where do I hook up the pcv if I get a chrome air cleaner?

20" will be ugly....i thought the same thing but was convinced to put 20's on it.......ugghh..I knew I should have gone with what I wanted.....cragers to make it really 70's like...I dont have a very good sence of what is in/out for wheels. Oh well I can return them.

Cragers would be cool. I like the Outlaw wheels but they no longer make them in 16x7 8 lug anymore.jcolville wrote:20" will be ugly....i thought the same thing but was convinced to put 20's on it.......ugghh..I knew I should have gone with what I wanted.....cragers to make it really 70's like...I dont have a very good sence of what is in/out for wheels. Hey, just remember that wheels are totally subjective. It's all about what you like! There are lots of guys on here running big wheels and loving them. There are also lots of guys running classic style wheels and loving them too. On my old short bed I had 17" Torque Thrusts and I thought they were perfect for my truck; classic styling in an updated package. Just do what you like and you'll be happy!jcolville wrote:20" will be ugly....i thought the same thing but was convinced to put 20's on it.......ugghh..I knew I should have gone with what I wanted.....cragers to make it really 70's like...I dont have a very good sence of what is in/out for wheels. Re: Chrome Air Cleaner and Valve Covers
Never mind about the chrome I'm painting it all original, and putting the $$$ I would have spent on an aluminum intake.

Well, just keep in mind that you're not going to see a lot of gain from an aluminum intake if you have the stock restrictive air cleaner on it still.fordboy69 wrote:Never mind about the chrome I'm painting it all original, and putting the $$$ I would have spent on an aluminum intake.

Re: Chrome Air Cleaner and Valve Covers
Man thats no Bull SxxT!!! I had an 84 GMC Caballero(same as an El Camino for those that don't know) and I bought a 9" Diameter open style breather to replace the factory restrictive junker and finally found a filter element that'd fit it and stopped off to pick it up and in the parking lot I went ahead and installed it and MY GOD!!!!! the difference it made changing that breather assembly out. Before the change getting up on the freeway Floored with passing gear kicked in it'd be Bogging real bad the Classic Quadrajet Bog and sound like it was flying when in actuality the speedometer was steadily and rapidly dropping. Now when I did the swap I was ultra skeptical something this simple could make that much difference, THAT THING FLEW up the entrance ramp and proceeded to crawl up the person infront of mes ass with a vengeance with half the throttle and I actually had to hit the brakes pretty hard to get it to shutdown/slowdown enough to not eat that rear bumper. to say the least I was MEGA impressed so what hes saying about the factory breather assembly Vs. aftermarket open style hes not Bull SxxxING!!!! BELIEVE IT

P.S. Yes I was running a Dual Plenum Aluminum intake a Edelbrock Performer infact
