choke question

finally got my truck running, i rebuilt the carb, second time went great, funny thing is choke isnt hooked up and seems to drive ok not hooked up, man choke that is,
its hot as hell here, it it a bad thing to not have hood up

You only need the choke to start it when it's cold.
If it's hot out, you shouldn't need it.

Did you find anything wrong in the carb?
I'm curious what the problem was.

Ditto on that Sam I Am. Why did you rebuild the carb? What was going on? I have had issues with my truck stalling. That was with the Holley 2 barrel. When that carb was dialed in it was a powerful set up. I am extremely meticulous about adjusting my carbs and figured that the idle circuit had gotten fouled or pluged. Motorcraft 2 barrel is now on it and it runs fine. I probably could have cured the problem with a better fuel filter between the pump and carb.
