351 Windsor swap question

Post by mrsnicks »

Hey Guys. If you have put a 351 windsor in your truck I have a question for you.

What type of sump are you running? Front, rear or the fox body swap pan? Any clearance issues with any of them?

Thanks,

Patrick

Running a front sump 351w pan in my 72 2wd. The only difference in a 351 and a 302 block is the 351 deck height is 1/2" taller than a 302. Other than that same / same.

What about headers for this swap? Can you use headers for the 302?

Yes, I'm running 5.0 mustang shorty headers with no problem. I tried long tube but had clearance issuses with the front transmission cross member. Some guys here use long tube by notching the cross member. There are alot of treads on the site talking about headers and small blocks hear. Do a seach and you will find alot of info on your question. Hope this helps you.
