Okay guys i rebuilt my carb for the first time. It was one hell of a experience.. never thought it had that many parts..
Finished cleaning it put a new fuel filter and all the goodies.. and put her back on.. cranked her up and vroooooooooooooooooommmmmmm.. turned it off.. scared the crap out of me.. i'm clueless as of why,, i'm guessing the throttle is stuck or something dunno..
Did you adjust the idle screws at all during cleaning and reassembling? Just a thought.

Why is it that the trucks are always the best running vehicles in the family?
Ford means "found on road daily"
70 F100 Custom-352 w/68 Highboy 4x4 frame. My play/project truck
70 F250 Explorer-390/C6 auto. My work truck
04 Mitsubishi montero-family car
did you tap the gas pedal to let it idle back down. it may have just caught on soem of the linkages on the side of the carb. take a pic of it fromt he drivers side if it is catching and you can't figure it out.
i'll try and get a picture tomorrow.. i might need to adjust the screws.. didn't do that yet.. also the peddle is weird.. it's almost all the way down to the floor.. hmm weird
When you look down the throat of the carb are your throttle blades closed? partially open? with your gas peddle nearly to the floor as you say something in the linkage is hanging you up i would think, just take a closer look and work the throttle by hand, it has to be something obvious.
...or you have your spring installed incorrectly....that is, holding the throttle open rather than closed.
