69 to 76 disk brake, power brake, and power steering conv...

Hey Guys I just bought a 1976 f-100 today with disc brakes, power brakes, and power steering. What I'm going to do is take the entire 76 front suspension and put it on my 69 along with the power steering box, the power steering column, and the brake booster(and proportion valve). Hopefully this will be an easy task it seems all self explanatory mostly and I'm a mechanic so I'm sure that I can figure it out.

All that I half to do (as far as I know) is unbolt my front suspension (i-beams and all) and install the 76 front suspension take my steering column and steering box out notch my motor mount with a grinder so that the ford power steering box will fit, drill out the spot for the bolt hole in front of the old one, Then install the power steering column. and for the brake booster just unbolt my master cylinder and bolt up the brake booster/master cylinder and install the proportion valve(or whatever its called).

If you guys know any problems that I might run into please warn me in advanced so that I will be ready for it.

You didn't state which engine is in your '69, but I'm assuming it's an FE, since you mentioned notching the left-side engine perch. If your truck has a small-block, then you won't need to notch the perch.

Other than that, it sounds like you've got it covered. Just be sure to also use the entire steering linkage setup from the donor truck, as your '69 linkage won't fit.

something i thought about but have not tried. is to take a smallblcok drivers side perch and shim it out from t e frame the correct distance to make it the same height as a fe moutn. the only thing i can think of is the sturdyness of that kind of mod. washers would work as spacers but would be not very strudy i wouldn't think.

During my upgrades I run into something that I thought that you guys should know. when I went to install my power steering box onto my stock manual steering 69 custom cab with a factory 360 I was ready to notch my motor mount and drill out the other hole the one used on the power steering motor mount and for some reason I didn't half to my ps box bolted right up which doesn't make any sense to all of information that i have been reading because i should have had to do this. Has anyone else been able to do this? I will provide pictures as soon as I get a chance.

Let me know if you have any problems when you mount up your booster. When I put my '76 booster in my '69 the pedal wa too low and I want to know if you run into the same problem. I'm thinking I will have to weld an extention onto the push rod to make it fit right.

maybe you already had the power steering mount on your truck. or you have a small block engine which doesn't require the need to have different perches.

i am also doing the conversion to power steering on my 69. i noticed that to and if you look at you block and then the motor mounts you will notice that the driverside mounts closer to the front of the block compared to the small blocks that both sides were equal mounting points

My brake pedal was a little lower like maybe 1 inch or so.

does anyone know where I can get a set of spindle's for my 76 1/2 ton front-end that I just installed.

the reason for needing these is because whoever owned it before me went to replace the kingpins and stripped the threads out that holds the caps on. (the caps on top and bottom that have the grease fitting on them) I hate retarded people that don't know how to do sh** right.

would that make them 3/4 ton or would that really matter? well even if they were 3/4 ton I could put my 1/2 hub/rotor on their couldn't I?... I'm not to familiar with the bearing sizes and stuff.

i think what would matter on them is the size of the spindle. the brake capliers bracket is what makes it a f250 as well as the disc. i will do some checking and see what i can find out.

i found out as long as niether truck was over a certain weight that the king pins are the same size.
