NO, you cannot still rattle can over it, at least not without using tie coat primer.

It is too hard and smooth for a topcoat to "bite". If you are planning to top coat you have to mist it before it dries as a tie coat.

wonder if a self etching would stick to the por? or would it just compromise it?

damn there goes more project money funds for my stupid mistake

another question.

i noticed today that i must of missed a spot when applying the second coat on my core support, it is a very light coat showing the metal underneath. can i apply another coat over the dried por-15?
so putting por-15 over dried por-15, is that ok?

Ryan,
A long time ago I painted the frame of one of my street rods with por-15 and after it dried I noticed some runs. I don't know if the manufacturer would recommend this, but I just wet sanded down the runs, roughed up the surrounding area a little and recoated with por-15. It seemed to work just fine.

Doesn't por15 look good without paint. I too want to paint the inner wheel wells on my 69. I was just going to paint por 15 on frame and shock, spring mount since I am replacing the old suspension from drum to disk.

it looks great without a topcoat, but por-15 is UV sensitive (doesnt like sunlight) so if it is left in sunlight it will discolor. so you have to topcoat if it will be in sun.

Well, you have had a fair response on this item so perhaps you do not need more information. I have used POR products extensively on a ground up restoration on a 67 F250. I tried to use 3 coats of POR 15 on most areas. POR recommends the 2nd coat be applied as soon as the first coat dries to the touch. I have actually painted on the 2nd coat the next morning and it seems to work fine although that was this winter when it was colder. Also if you are using POR frame paint (I used their semi-gloss black on the frame and under fenders and bed) they recommend it be put on as soon as POR 15 is dry to the touch. If you wait for a couple of days before top coating they recommend first to either light sanding or paint with their self-etching primer or the other product that someone else mentioned in an earlier form resonse.
