por15 info?
What is por 15 exactly. How does it work and how do you use it when painting. Im guessing its like a primer but about the rust thing. Do you have to remove the rust or just sand it even and paint over it?

POR-15 stands for Paint Over Rust. As it's name suggests, you don't need to remove rust before applying the product. In fact, it's suggested you don't remove the rust first....it adheres much better to 'seasoned' steel than clean smooth steel. You do need to make sure things are very clean and dry (degreased).
It's not a primer, per se. It's more like a liquid powdercoating that can be applied with a brush, and dries rock-hard. However, POR-15 is affected by ultraviolet light...which means it'll turn grayish and slightly chalky over time on areas subject to constant direct sunlight. For those areas, you can either mist a coat of rattlecan paint on it while the POR-15 is still tacky (almost dry), or after it dries you'll have to use their special tie-coat primer, since nothing else will stick to it.

I'm thinking oil pan, oil filter adapter, etc. That project is on my list.
