Rear Gas door

Post by 67mann »

http://s255.photobucket.com/albums/hh13 ... ist114.jpg Is this aftermarket or did ford offer that and if so--can you get them for either side? I'm doing away with behind the seat tank in my 70 and replacing it with rear tank from my 67,but would love not to have the filler neck stick out the way they did in 67. THX for any input jerry

Those were dealer-installed tank setups. AFAIK you can't get those doors anymore. Your best bet would be to keep your eyes open for a good one from a junkyard truck. However, considering that they're just light-weight aluminum, I'd say the chances of you finding one that's not beat to heck aren't really good.

Why not consider grafting on a factory door from a later-model filler neck?

I'm thinking about making one of these work.

Build a box on the inside of the opening and using the original fill tube, just shortened so it'll be recessed in the bedside.
Will be using the mid-ship tank from this truck..
