old=5.5=137.5mm
new=5.135mm
and yes there are places that will redrill to 5.5, but i've never priced it out.

If you are talking about 99-up super duty wheels, IE 8 lug, they went to a metric pattern also.

:? ezer I think there is something wrong there... decimal point maybe + fat fingered a number :?
I get 139.7mm = to 5.5 inches... for the old
and 135.0 mm for the new.
For the 5 bolt pattern stuff anyways...

Stockton gets a real bad rap on some of the hotrod forums. There are a couple other places that they mostly use. One is Wheel Vintiques.

I always wonder what the h**l was Ford thinking? Why change the bolt pattern just a couple milemeters? It is almost like the only reason to change is so the old wheels wouldn't interchange.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

Yeah, I was thinkng about the 8 lug super duty style.

Back in the70's you could get uni-lug wheels that had oval holes instead of round ones.. I was thinkin' you could oval the holes a little wider or narrower depending on if the pattern was larger or smaller...
It doesn't seem like it would take too much to make that work...

Just a thought...

8 lug wheels. '97 and older work for us.

I think that was the idea so 16.5 wouldn't the new trucks.

Yeah....

It's not like we're talkin' about major amounts of difference...

According to Les Schwab, the '99 and later super duty style wheels are 170mm on center...
whereas the earlier ones are 6.5 or 165.1mm on center.
By my calculation, you would to only need to make each hole 2.45mm larger toward the center to make them fit...
It seems that a guy could just drill 'em out that little bit...

What do ya all think ???
Feasable or just an urban myth ???

If you drilled out those holes and didn't do it to where the wheel was dead center on the hub you'd be in for a h*ll of a ride.
