I have a 1968 short box F100. The I-6 is coming out and 460 going in. I plan on doing alot of mods to the front but want the mods to be mostly OEM parts to keep the cost down.
I have picked up a 74 F100 I beam and spindle set up so I can do the disc brakes, but obviously I need to change the front coils out to handle the added weight.
Honestly, I would like to give this truck 1" of lift in the front with a new spring setup I just dont know what to use. I hate to have to lower the rear to level it, but it will be level when I am through.
Should I get a 250 spring set for the front to handle the 460, and not worry about the lift or can the lift be accomplished with beam bending?

Hi and welcome.I would go with a set of coils to correct the ride height.Beams are only bent to correct alignment problems and it's rare to do them.

There are really only two different sets of factory front springs for the bumpside trucks. As long as you get a set meant for a V8, you've got the stiffer set.
Keep in mind that the springs need to match the radius arms. If you use the '74 radius arms, you need to use the '74 springs and mounts. If you keep your '68 radius arms, you'll need to use bumpside-era springs. This is due to a different spring pigtail diameter, and thus different spring pockets. The dentside springs can be modified to work with the earlier parts, but it's just easier to keep them as a matched set.

Is there any way to lift the front 1", without new I-beams. All I see is 3-5" lifts for the front of these fords.
