G'day from Australia
G'day Guys
Just bought my 1st F-Truck, F100 1969 (base model). Haven't recieved it yet, but really looking forward to getting my greedy mitts on it to drive it around. Photo's attached.
I do have a couple of real quick questions ......
1. I see that the 67-72 series F100 didnt have disk brakes. But did they hydraulic boosters ?? If not, are these easy to install (2nd best option to having disks, I guess). Where would you scavenge a suitable booster from ?
2. Why is this series called Bumpsides ???
3. Apart from the very obvious steering wheel position, does anyone care to make a comment on what was different on the Aussie delievered model (just for my future reference).
Can I also comment on what a fantastic site this is ... and look forward to visiting it often.
Steve

Welcome and nice looking truck you are getting. The bump side reffers to the bump on the body line going down the side. My '72 came with with power brakes. Disk front brakes, but I have no idea what they had down there. Stick around, you'll love it here. And someone will have better answers shortly.

Re: G'day from Australia
Most of the the trucks did have brake boosters, but like my 68 swb it doesn't have a brake booster and pretty easy to change. Some came with disk brakes, most didn't. Drum brakes will do the job. The drum brakes on my 1 ton will stop on a dime. Nice looking truck and I like the camper shell.smclaren wrote: 1. I see that the 67-72 series F100 didnt have disk brakes. Welcome from calif. Will be cool to see the work you do on that truck and the differences between yours and U.S. models

Hi Steve and welcome from Pennsylvania.Nice looking truck.
On your brake booster question I'd suggest looking around for 67-72 trucks in salvage yards. The change over on the trucks built for North America is pretty straight forward.I suspect the Austrailian versions will be similar. You might want read up on the tutorials Keith posted on the home page.Lots of good stuff there.
Please post lots of pics.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Welcome...
As for your question number 3, I believe that almost all export F-100s used the short bed like yours. I notice the addition of the amber rear turn signals which I believe were required by law in Aus. Which engine is under the hood?
Michael
(I visited Australia in 1995 and in 2000, but didn't see very many F-Series trucks on the road).

Good on ya mate! 3 of the best weeks of my life were spent in NSW. I can't wait to get back.
My TriPower doesn't get very good mileage. What's the problem?
