undercoating ?

On my 68 fenders there is still a lot of undercoating, so should i try to grind it off or just let it stay? It is on there really good, not chipping , i tried to get some off but it's tuff.

I figure i could put por 15 on in places were there is nothing and just leave the undercoating there. Any opinions?

It depends on the condition of the fender, is it rusty on the outside? if so, it's rusty on the inside too

i have undercoating on my truck too. some of it has flaked off. so i am goign to try and remove the rest of any flaking and redo it even or in place of por15. the under coating worked on my turck where it was sprayed on. the places where it missed were the places that rusted out.

Like James said, I'd leave it alone if it's not rusting underneath it.

You can buy this stuff in spray cans to touch-up if needed.

If you want to remove it and then start from scratch try using a hand held propane torch and a putty knife to scrape it off. It will soften with a lil heat. IMO undercoating will retain moisture to cause rust. This is why the auto makers quit using it altogether. Now im gonna use the por-15 that one of the other members used on his truck. Its kinda a lighter color and not black which IMO looks a lot better.
