I agree with Fordman Ryan, you will definitely get more money, or sell it faster if you either finish the paint job you started or put the whole thing in primer. Primer would be fast and easy. Just my

If it was me buying it and I saw that there was a bad paint job on it (by bad I mean bad new paint not bad original paint) I wouldn't pay as much. I dont like buying trucks that have been messed with. If its going to be messed with I like to be the one to do it. Now if I was someone who wanted a truck to haul my camper or make the occasional trip to the dump or if I was buying a truck not to resotore or do anything to than I would like the looks of a truck with a good looking paint job and would probably pay more. So it really all depend on who is buying it. If I were you I would try selling it for a couple of weeks and If you don't get any good bites from people wanting to take her and fix her up then I would paint it and try and sell it to someone who wants a good looking work truck or toy hauler. Thats my input I think you should do what you want to do, either way im sure it will go to a good home.

You will get more money out of it if you finish the paint job, it will be more presentable... I look at it as a good deal as it needs finished so wont be worth what one that is all the same colors... good or bad...
Guess it depends on what you want to get out of it for $$$.

If it was me I woud not paint it any more! Have to think who ever buys it might take ever inch of paint back off. One thing is you can get more for it off of ebay! But I woud like to know who is buying my truck frist.

One Idea!!!!! Black tag the 71 I know in oklahoma city where im from to black tag all you had to do is keep the tires aird up on w/e. We did that with a truck that had a bad engine and it just sat there a year.

I agree with you man.

I think it looks a lot better, (which will possibly help the sale) than with no paint. Someone will also know the sheetmetal is a little better protected from further rusting with the paint on it.

Last thing in the world i'd buy is a truck (or anything, for that matter) in primer. First, primer, rattlecan or otherwise can hide a multitude of sins..bad bodywork, ripples, etc. Second, primer draws water like a sponge. Prime a panel & let is sit thru a couple of rainstorms.....


Just my opinion, but the truck the way it is would be the way i'd sell it.

I would keep painting myself, it ain't too much more work and it looks great in the pictures. They may not like the less then professional job when they see it, but when they see the picture in the ad they are a lot more likely to have a look at it.

I agree with The Eskimo. The more people that you can get over to look at the better chance you have of selling it. Just figure the additional paint to be marketing expenses. I also think that the truck looks good in the picture, you did a great job Ryan!

I'd finish it up. I wouldn't give it a second look if it was only half done. Of course, I am the guy who did a "code enforcement paint job" with a wagner power painter and walmart exterior latex paint... so what do I know?

I did that on my truck sense july 4the. All that does is make is really cheep but the thing is you can't drive it at all! So if you have a truck your working on and still having to pay state farm or w/ae u have the full price just give them a call and black tag it! It saves a lot of money when your working on a truck that you wont be driving for a wile!

What we are doing right now is putting my name in the 95 skylark we have and my dads name in my truck! It cuts about 150 dollars!!! if not more. I got the bill from state farm and my thing for the truck is 349$ ever 6 months Yes I pay that with my own money!! My mom and dad has never helped me do any thing with my truck, They make me pay for it all! Wich that is good for me, I do have to give them that!

I woad tell ever one to look into blacktaging you truck when your working on it and wont be driving it for a wile!

People with money who seriously are looking to buy a truck for a restoration or even a nice daily driver will walk away if its primered. Its an old trick to sell someone a junk body and everyone has caught on to the scam. I know you dont want to shaft anyone but the potential buyer does not know you and its likely he wont take any chances, or he will offer you a fraction of what the truck is really worth. I suggest you stop right where you are and see what kind of offers you get. Remember you dont have to sell it to the first potential buyer.
